Aryna Sabalenka wasn't best pleased as her match with
Rebeka Masarova was suspended and halted due to bad light and slippery court conditions on Wednesday at the
Berlin Ladies Open.
Sabalenka perhaps had every right to feel aggrieved, she won the opening set 6-2 before the umpire suspended play. Masarova wanted to stop and she got her wish.
Sabalenka vented her frustration. "You are stopping the match because she says that side is slippery? I just played two games on that side."
The match was stopped and rain then curtailed it as the World No.1 has to return tomorrow. Albeit it perhaps wasn't helped by the previous match taking over three hours to complete as Liudmila Samsonova took down Jessica Pegula.
Sabalenka has never won a WTA title on grass and hasn't played Wimbledon two out of the last three years. But in reality her power game should be a match made in heaven for the surface.
Albeit the weather certainly wasn't today in Berlin, that's for sure.
