Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff were featured in a video together for the first time since the controversy following the French Open final. The second Grand Slam of the year ended with Gauff lifting the title after beating Sabalenka with a score of 6-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Following that defeat, heartbroken Sabalenka made a controversial comment, blaming herself for losing the contest after making 70 unforced errors, rather than giving credit to Gauff. "I think she won the match not because she played incredible, but because I made all those mistakes," said Sabalenka back then.
Gauff responded to those comments at the time by stating that it was not a fair comment, considering she had defeated the world number one fair and square in the final of a Grand Slam. “The way Aryna was playing the last few weeks, she was the favourite to win. So I think she was the best person that I could have played in the final,” said Gauff. “Her being No. 1 in the world was the best person to play, so I think I got the hardest matchup just if you go off stats alone.”
Later, Sabalenka ended up apologising for that comment while talking to Eurosport Germany in an interview on June 17th. Sabalenka admitted that she regrets making those comments. "That was just completely unprofessional of me. I let my emotions get the better of me,” she said. "I absolutely regret what I said back then. You know, we all make mistakes. I’m just a human being who’s still learning in life. I think we all have those days when we lose control. The difference with me is, the world is watching. I get a lot more hate for what I did than other people."
Now, Gauff and Sabalenka are featured in a dance video just before the start of Wimbledon 2025. Both players appeared in traditional white dresses and showcased their moves. Gauf, who is a frequent user of TikTok as well, shared the video with the caption: "OK, guys, we’re back. Did you miss us? ’Cause we missed you."
